Aircraft Landing Bag is the latest in technology used for landing wheel less aircraft. These bags are fixed under the belly or the wings of an aircraft and are pneumatically operated. They are made of rubberized fabric which has got high strength to weight ratio.
Two bags viz. Front and Rear are required for recovery. The Rear Bag has larger volume compared to the Front Bag. These bags are operated at low pressure and hence they absorb high impact energy. The buoyancy chamber on which the aircraft lands gets deflated on touch down through an orifice provided, which ruptures and the aircraft sits comfortably on the deflated chamber thus minimizing the bouncing effect, hence protecting the aircraft for any damage.
